What are P+ Farms?

Our proposal: Individual control via technological welfare system

This proposal is based on identifying animals using an RFID electronic chip and releasing them so that they freely wander around communal spaces within the farm. Electronic sow feeding systems are installed in the facility, which permit to automatize both the feed-supply and the data-storage of different metrics per animal, having a detailed and real-time control over all the extrinsic (temperature, humidity) and intrinsic (consumption, hydration, weight, dorsal fat density, living birth rate, etc.) variables that impact production, and thus, the profitability of the plant.

This control lets us adjust all the variables to the characteristics of each animal in order to obtain the maximum performance, always complying with animal welfare directives.

In this way, the concept of technological animal welfare that we promote offers the following advantages:

  • Reduction of feed consumption thanks to intake optimization
  • Individualized control of each animal
  • Better information management
  • Shorter labor duration and less dead-born piglets
  • Determination of a nutritional strategy depending on the animals’ gestation period days
  • Higher weight at birth and litter uniformity, guaranteeing a better immune system
  • Improvement of productive life of the sow
  • Energy savings and a better air quality
  • Lower number of employees

And what is more important, the development of new metrics and parameters that facilitate the creation of hypothesis directed towards improving economic and productive indexes.
